Colorado has one of the fastest growing elderly populations in the country. As our population ages and the number of elderly and frail elderly continue to grow, there is a heightened need for public involvement in the concerns of this growing segment. The economic and humanitarian impact of the baby boomers as they enter their 70s, 80s, 90s and 100s will be impossible to ignore. There are many areas that demand our attention: from housing to health care, from the needs of caregivers to the importance of policymaking.
The combined efforts of our financial commitment and our political will are necessary to meet the coming senior tidal wave. While government cuts and community support for eldercare programs are often decreasing, the need for senior and caregiver services continues to grow.
