By the year 2030, it is anticipated that 7.7 million people will have Alzheimer’s disease. Age is the biggest risk factor for the disease. Currently one in eight people age 65 and older have the illness, with baby boomers soon to swell the ranks of this growing demographic. Spearheaded by the Alzheimer’s Association, the nation has rallied support to help those with the disease and their caregivers. A wealth of information and support services is available. The Johnson Center serves as a community resource and hosts several support groups active in helping those with dementia and their caregivers.
