Activity Rooms

The Johnson Adult Day CenterFriendship Circle

This center is structured to maintain and stimulate our most physically and cognitively able participants. We stress independence and interdependence, discussion, mental stimulation and physical exercise.

The Johnson Adult Day CenterLadies Circle

This center is just for women. Activities focus on women’s interests and concerns. The participants typically need assistance with activities of daily living.

Music Circle

This center is more structured to serve participants who may need cues or substantial assistance with activities of daily living. Music is a featured activity and personal attention is given to individual needs.

Cozy Circle

This center is a smaller, quieter, more nurturing environment for participants with substantial physical and neurological needs.

The Johnson Adult Day CenterThe Grand Room

The largest room in our center, this is the place where all participants gather for group exercise, music, dancing, entertainment, special events, games and during transitions from one activity to another.

Arts Center and Support Group Meeting Room

This room houses our Memories in the Making art therapy program—a special program we host on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association Colorado Chapter. Guided by our own professional artist and activities coordinator, Anne Buel, participants create works of art that are later juried and auctioned at an Alzheimer’s fundraiser, or placed in a gallery on the walls of our Center or taken home by our family caregivers as keepsakes.

On selected days and evenings, support groups meet in our Center. They include:

  • The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 720-371-5806
  • The a brain injury support group called “The Hang Out”
  • The Multiple System Atrophy/Progessive Supranuclear Palsy Support Group (MSA/PSP), (303) 526-5585
  • The Alzheimer’s Association for Individuals with Early-Stage Alzheimer’s Disease; and the Alzheimer’s Association Caregivers Support Group. These are “closed” groups and not appropriate for drop in attendees. For information, please call Marcia Reish at (303) 813-1669

Computer Center

This room is a place where participants can send e-mails to family members and friends, surf the Internet, play with colors and designs, read news headlines and enjoy on-line video clips.

Special Activities Center

This room will provide a wealth of activities for our more able clients--specialized exercise programs, reminiscence programs, crafts, scrapbooking, sports, podiatry exams, health education, and more.
