What is an adult day
center?
An adult day center is a program that provides supervised
activities and care for adults with physical and mental
impairments. These programs provide respite for caregivers of
adults who cannot be left at home alone due to safety concerns.
How do I know if my loved one is ready
for an adult day program?
Take a quick quiz.
Is your loved one isolated with few social interactions and little
activity during the day? Do you need a break from caregiving? Are
you contemplating a nursing home placement or home health aide?
Would your loved one benefit from new friendships and fun
activities? It may be time for adult day services.
What are The Johnson Adult Day Program entry
requirements?
There are few requirements, but we do request that one or more
family members schedule a tour of JADP before enrolling. A
nurse will then help you complete a brief application form (no
application fee) identifying any special dietary needs, health
conditions or specific behaviors. Participants
at JADP are primarily mature adults in their 70s and 80s,
though we have a wide age range of participants.
Is there a waiting list?
Not at this time, however, some days of the week at the Center
are better attended than others. Please contact us to arrange for the best days and
times to fit your needs.
What is the cost of your program and is financial
assistance available?
Our base rates are $68 per full day (anything over 4
hours of time), $47 per half day (four hours of time or less), $78
if daytrips or other special offerings are contracted. We
also have a showering service that is $18 per shower. Your bill is
compiled at the end of the month and sent for invoicing. You can
expect a bill by the middle of each month. Financial assistance is
available through a need-based grant assistance program, as well as
a sliding scale billing plan. Please contact us for information
on financial assistance. Grant opportunities are also
available through The Alzheimer's Association, Colorado
Chapter.
Do you accept Medicaid for billing purposes? What
about Medicare?
We do accept Medicaid. Please check with your Medicaid case
worker for requirements. Unfortunately, Medicare does not
cover the cost of adult day programs in the state of Colorado.
Are you a nonprofit organization? What benefits or
services do you provide that make your program different or better
than others in the area?
We are our own 501c3, and our mission is to provide
life-enriching activities and care for adults with memory loss as
well as support and respite for caregivers.
Here is a list of features that make us unique among adult day
programs:

What is the ratio of staff to participants at your
Center? What qualifications does your staff have?
A one-to-seven staff ratio ensures extraordinary care and
security. Our professionally-trained staff includes RNs, CNAs and
Activity Directors, many with college degrees, who supervise our
multi-level activity rooms. All of our staff members are CPR
certified. For more staff information, click here.
My loved one needs daily medications. Can your staff
administer medications?
Yes. We have a registered nurse on duty daily to administer
medications, including insulin, to monitor blood pressure and track
the specific health needs of our participants. They are in
charge of all medical oversight during our hours of operation.
What should I do if my loved one refuses to
come?
It's sometimes helpful to come to the Center just for a visit or
for lunch and entertainment as a first step (please call us in
advance). Others find it helpful to schedule a daytrip or an art
class only. These programs often are a comfortable way to begin
before enrolling in the typical day program. We will do all
that we can to assist you and your loved one in this transitional
time. Also, we have a
tip sheet on ways to talk about adult day services with your
loved one that may be of help to you.
I'm not sure I can arrange transportation to your
Center. Can you help?
Yes. JADP offers transportation services for participants
with our own "Door Through Door" Program through Total Longterm
Care. Our staff will come to the door of your home to pick up
your loved one, take them to the center and provide a ride home,
escorting them safely to the door. This service is for
Private Pay only.
Fees:
$26 per round trip, within 10 mile radius of JADP
$32 per round trip, 10-20 mile radius from JADP
Call us to schedule transportation services for your loved
one.
For participants who have Medicaid, we do have a list of
transportation companies that accept Medicaid. Feel free to
request by emailing asmith@jadp.org.
What happens in the case of a medical
emergency?
Our first step is to contact a family member, describe the issue
of concern and determine a course of action. In the event of a
life-threatening emergency, we call 911 so participants can
immediately be transferred to a local emergency department.
Can I come for a tour or a visit?
We invite you to come for a visit at your
convenience. Please contact us in advance to arrange for a tour
appointment with one of our registered nurses. Caregivers, case
managers and friends often join us for lunch or afternoon
entertainment. You are also always welcome to attend our special
events.
